Today marks 12 straight weeks of consistently showing up for CrossFit, and it’s been a transformative experience. I’ve faced challenges, especially with my past back issues, but the slow and steady progress has been incredibly rewarding. It’s not just about the physical gains—it’s about showing up for myself every single day and pushing through the obstacles that arise.

The Road to Consistency

I’ll be honest—getting here wasn’t easy. There were days when I wanted to give up, when the progress seemed slow, or when I was frustrated with how my body was responding. But through it all, I stayed committed. Slowly but surely, I began to feel stronger—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Shifting My Focus to Nutrition and Lifestyle

About a month ago, I decided to level up by focusing on my eating habits and lifestyle choices in addition to my CrossFit training. They say it takes around 66 days to form a habit, and I’m well on my way to making these habits stick.

Here’s what I’ve been focusing on:

  • 34 days alcohol-free
  • 27 days of food tracking and meal prepping
  • Prioritizing sleep, journaling, meditation, and reading

The changes have been nothing short of amazing. I sleep better, feel more energized, and have a clear focus every day. I’ve even started waking up at 5:30 AM before my alarm goes off—something I never thought would happen!

The Challenges of Nutrition

Nutrition has had its ups and downs. Being on the go so often makes it tempting to grab junk food, but I’ve worked on shifting my mindset. I’ve focused on what I can control in the moment—making better choices when it counts. It’s been a game-changer. I’m learning that it’s not about perfection, but about consistency and being mindful of the choices I make every day.

Family Involvement & Proud Moments

The best part of this journey, though? It’s not just my progress—it’s the fact that I have my kids along for the ride. My 10 yr-old has joined me in journaling, reading, and meditating, and she’s excited to start a CrossFit Junior program this Spring. It’s been inspiring to see her take control of her own health and think about the food she puts in her body.

One of my proudest moments came last night when my 10-yr old decided to make her own lunch. Normally, she would eat school lunch, but she really took the time to plan a healthy, balanced meal. She packed cheesy broccoli chicken quinoa, summer sausage, fruit, cheese sticks, and applesauce. I was so proud of the thought and care she put into it.

The Power of Support

This journey isn’t always easy. There are days when I feel exhausted, when I question whether it’s worth it. But the support of my amazing coaches and the motivation of my little cheerleader by my side keep me going. We’re doing this together, and that makes all the difference.

Looking Ahead: Big Goals Ahead

I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but I know this is just the beginning. There will still be tough days, moments of doubt, and times when motivation feels low—but I’ve learned that showing up, even when it’s hard, is what makes the difference.

CrossFit has taught me resilience. Nutrition has taught me discipline. And my daughter has taught me that the small choices we make each day don’t just impact us—they inspire those around us.

So, I’m stepping forward with confidence, ready to tackle new challenges, push past limits, and embrace the journey ahead. Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about the goals I set—it’s about becoming the person who never stops striving for better.
